Kal Online Ancient Animal transformation: the four forms, the egg to Amogae stages, and how the animal levels up

Kal Online lets a character turn into an ancient animal from oriental myth. Players raise the animal from an egg to an adult, and the transformation adds power on top of the character's own stats. The animal is tied to your class, so the form you get is fixed.

The four forms
  • Tiger Knight, for Knights.
  • Phoenix, for Magicians.
  • Black Panther, for Archers.
  • Eagle, for Thieves.
Each animal carries its own stats, so the transformation is not cosmetic.

Getting the skill

You have to clear the level 15 quest before you can transform at all. The transformation itself is split into an occurrence and a skill. To use the skill you need the ancient animal in your inventory, at infant, adult, ancient animal or Amogae stage. When everything lines up, the character takes the form of the animal or the body of that stage.

The five stages
  • Egg, levels 1 to 10. Transformation impossible.
  • Infant, levels 11 to 20. Transformation possible.
  • Adult, levels 21 to 30. Transformation possible.
  • Ancient Animal, levels 31 to 40. Transformation possible.
  • Amogae, levels 41 to 50. Transformation possible.
The first level of an ancient animal is 1, the egg stage. Adult and above add bonus status points, extra movement skills, physical defence and magic defence. Egg adds status points only.

How the animal gains levels

The animal has its own experience level, separate from the character level. GameAgit lists two ways to earn it:
  • Case 1: win a battle against an opponent above yellow colour in the Color Name System. That gives 1 point per battle won.
  • Case 2: stay logged in with the ancient animal equipped. That gives 10 points every 3 minutes.
Characters above level 21 also earn 1 animal experience level for every 10 levels of monster hunted, so a level 21 to 30 monster gives 1 point, 31 to 40 gives 2, and 41 to 50 gives 3. Case 2 runs in parallel with other game systems, so fishing or riding the board still earns animal experience. Both cases apply to the egg, infant and adult stages.

The level caps
  • An ancient animal that reaches level 101 cannot gain experience any more.
  • The animal level cannot go higher than the character level. When the two are equal, the animal level shows as 0 percent.
  • You cannot transform while your character level is lower than your animal level.
  • When the animal level jumps past the character level, the character is returned to basic form automatically.
Hermit and Amogae skills

Every ancient animal at level 70 or above carries a resistance attribute, and the attribute grows with the animal level. At level 31 and above the animal can transform into Hermit, and at 41 and above into Amogae.

Hermit skills:
  • Ancient Tiger, Anger: hit rate rises to 100 percent for 15 seconds.
  • Ancient Bird, Phoenix: 100 percent resistance and immunity to all attack for 15 seconds. Cannot be used if you are already unable to use magic.
  • Ancient Panther, Golden Bird: fatal attack applies at 100 percent chance to your attacking skills for 15 seconds.
  • Ancient Eagle, ShinRhoe: summons lightning in the surrounding area.
Amogae skills:
  • Ancient Tiger, Revolve Attack: a flame force hits enemies around you.
  • Ancient Bird, Thunderbolt: thunderbolt hits enemies around you for 9 seconds.
  • Ancient Panther, Blood Suction: absorbs the enemy's HP and recovers your own.
  • Ancient Eagle, Whirlwind Feather: wind and feathers hit enemies around you.
Where transformation is allowed

GameAgit lists PvP, Castle Siege, fast transportation and hunting, including hunting in a party. Transformed characters keep their basic status bonus and can still use their own items and abilities, and they move faster than the basic form. Everything works as it does on your character except attacking, where the ancient animal's own ability takes over.
