Quick summary

Kal Online has two separate places to put things you are not carrying, and they cost different things and behave differently. Storage is shared between every character on your account and charges a flat fee per item. The Gold Bank is a deposit account for gold bars that pays interest, and it has rules about when you can take your money back.

Storage

Storage is the shared vault. All characters on the same account can share their items in it, which is the whole point: a drop on one character can be picked up by another.

The keeping charge is the same for every item, 60 Zamogeon per item. That is flat, not a percentage, so storing ten cheap items costs the same per item as storing one expensive one.

To use it, click a storage keeper NPC in a village. From the item list, click an item and then check-in to store it, or select an item and click check-out to take it back. Hold Ctrl to select multiple items at once.

One thing worth knowing before you try it: Zamogeon cannot be checked into storage. If you were planning to park your cash there, that is not an option.

Gold Bank

The Gold Bank is a separate system. It is a place where players can issue and deposit gold bars, and it pays interest on deposited bars.

The unit conversion is fixed: 100 gold coins become one gold bar, and every gold bar has its own issue number. Issuing a gold bar costs 10,000 Geon. A gold bar sells back to an NPC for 100,000,000 Geon.

You can also get a gold bar by completing a repeat quest that collects 100 gold coins.

Where to find it

The service runs through the Gold Manager NPC, at three locations:
  • Kumchoen in the Village of Narootuh
  • Kumgang in the Temporary Fort of Gaum-Ohee castle
  • Kumghae in the City of Priest
Slots and fees

Five slots are free to deposit gold bars into. Fifteen more slots are available for an opening fee of 100 to 300 Geon each.

Withdrawing a gold bar or its accrued interest costs a 1,000 Geon fee. If you have less than 1,000 Geon in your inventory, withdrawal is unavailable.

Using the extra paid slots gives extra interest, roughly 100 to 300 Geon per slot per day.

How the interest works

This is the part people get wrong. Interest on a gold bar accrues every day, but the bar has to stay in the Gold Bank until Thursday maintenance.

Interest is paid every Thursday at 9:00 AM, and only interest accrued within 24 hours of the deposit date is paid. Interest earned over seven days is paid into your Gold Bank account a week after the maintenance day.

If you withdraw your gold bars before maintenance, no interest is paid. That is the trap: pulling the bar out early wipes the accrual.

The rate of interest depends on the total amount of Geon on the server, so it is not a fixed number you can look up. Payable interest can accrue up to 100,000,000 Geon in the Gold Bank.

Gold coins

A gold coin is worth 1,000,000 Geon when sold to an NPC, and it can only be obtained from a Treasure Box.
