- Kal Online has five attributes: Strength, Health, Intelligence, Wisdom and Dexterity. The in-game abbreviations are STR, Health, INT, WIS and AGI.
- Strength and Dexterity both feed physical attack power and hit score, with Strength the larger contributor. Dexterity also feeds evasion.
- Health sets your maximum HP and Wisdom sets your maximum mana. Intelligence sets magic attack power and the attack power of a Sorcerer's attack spells.
- Every level grants bonus points, and the number rises with your level band, from 5 points a level early on to 12 points a level at 96 to 99.
- You also get 1 skill point per level, and skill points can be granted as a quest reward.
- Character creation gives you 5 points to distribute, and you can create 5 characters per account. The class you pick first cannot be changed later.
The official Kal Online FAQ lists the five attributes and what each one affects:
- Strength: physical attack power and hit score.
- Health: hit points.
- Intelligence: magic attack power, and the attack power of a Sorcerer's attack-type spells.
- Wisdom: mana, and the recovery amount of a Sorcerer's healing-type spells.
- Dexterity: evasion score, hit score and physical attack power.
Maximum HP depends on your level and your Health score. Maximum mana depends on your level and your Wisdom score. The FAQ notes that two characters of the same class with the same level and the same Health score have identical maximum HP, and the same holds for mana and Wisdom.
Evasion score depends on Dexterity, and the actual evasion rate is calculated from the attacker's level and hit score.
How attribute points work
Attribute points come from two places: character creation and leveling.
At creation you get 5 points to distribute across the attributes, and you choose the character's name, class, face and hairstyle. You can create up to 5 characters on one account, and the class you choose at first cannot be changed afterwards.
On level up, your maximum HP and maximum mana both rise, and you receive bonus points plus 1 skill point. The FAQ gives the bonus point table as:
- Level 1 to 71: 5 points per level.
- Level 72 to 75: 7 points.
- Level 76 to 80: 8 points.
- Level 81 to 85: 9 points.
- Level 86 to 90: 10 points.
- Level 91 to 95: 11 points.
- Level 96 to 99: 12 points.
Class specialization
The FAQ describes each class as specialized in one attribute with a second one as support, and says you receive a bonus when you grow the specialized attribute. The specialized attribute is Strength for the melee and physical ranged classes and Intelligence for the magic classes. The melee classes are described as strong on defense and hit points, the physical ranged class as a high damage dealer, and the magic classes as ranged magic attackers with area attacks.
FAQ
Q: How many attributes are there?
A: Five: Strength, Health, Intelligence, Wisdom and Dexterity, shown in game as STR, Health, INT, WIS and AGI.
Q: Which attribute raises my physical attack?
A: Strength and Dexterity both raise it, and Strength has the larger effect. Physical attack is a range between a minimum and a maximum value.
Q: Which attribute raises my evasion?
A: Dexterity. The actual evasion rate is then calculated from the attacker's level and hit score.
Q: What do Health and Wisdom do?
A: Health sets your maximum HP and Wisdom sets your maximum mana. Both also scale with your character level.
Q: How many bonus points do I get per level?
A: It depends on your level band, from 5 points at level 1 to 71 up to 12 points at level 96 to 99.
Q: Can I change my class later?
A: No. The FAQ states that the class chosen at character creation cannot be changed afterwards. You can create up to 5 characters per account.
Q: Where do I spend skill points?
A: At the class master NPCs. The FAQ places the basic class master in the starting village and at the temporary camp in front of the fortress, and higher job-tier masters in other towns.
