Kal Online account security: the item lock system, inactive account protection, and recovering a lost account
Quick Summary
  • Kal Online has a Binding system that locks your items behind a password so they cannot be sold, dropped, sent, enchanted, or destroyed by anyone else.
  • Accounts that go inactive have their password reset to random characters as a security measure.
  • You can recover a lost account through the FIND ID/PW page on the Kal Online homepage, or by contacting customer support.
  • Never share your ID and password, and be careful with the item lock password because it cannot be changed once it is set.
The Binding system
The Binding system protects your items by putting a lock on them. Once an item is locked, it cannot be sold, dropped, sent as a parcel, used in a private shop, enchanted, mixed, or destroyed with a stone of revision. You can still store locked items in your storage. You give an item a password using a Lock bought from the merchant NPC, and the item locks automatically with that password.

The password can use numbers and letters, between 4 and 12 characters. It cannot be changed once you set it, so write it down somewhere safe. While you are wearing locked items, you cannot put on an assassin mask.

To unlock an item you use a Key, which is sold through the Kal Online website, and type the password. Two wrong attempts in a row make the game ask the security question you set. Ten wrong attempts in a row lock the item permanently, and only customer support can help after that. Note that the Key is consumed even if you type the wrong password.

Inactive account protection
Kal Online resets the password on accounts that go inactive, changing it to random characters. The official notice says this was added because some players shared their ID and password with others before going inactive, leaving their items exposed. If you are a returning player and your password no longer works, that is the likely reason.

Getting your account back
Go to the Kal Online homepage and use the FIND ID/PW button. To find your ID, enter your name and registered email address. To issue a temporary password, enter your user ID, registered email address, and the verification code. If that does not work, you can create a new account and open a customer service ticket to reactivate the old one, or email the customer service address directly. The official notice warns that email is not the recommended route.

Staying safe around trades
The Binding system protects items that are locked, but it does not protect items sitting loose in your inventory or warehouse. Do not trade large amounts of geons or items to someone you do not know, and do not confirm a trade window from a player who pressures you to accept quickly. If a deal depends on you unlocking items or handing over your password, walk away.
