Kal Online talisman prefixes: what each prefix grants and the durability rule that can destroy your item

Talismans in Kal Online do two different jobs. A normal talisman works like an upgrade scroll: it adds attack, magic attack, accuracy or defense to an item, one step at a time. A prefix talisman is a different animal. It stamps a named bonus onto an item, replaces whatever prefix was already there, and charges a fixed durability price every time the attempt fails. That price is what destroys gear.

The two families
  • Strengthening Attack: min and max attack up, weapons only
  • Strengthening Magic: min and max magic attack up, weapons only
  • Strengthening Accuracy: accuracy +1, weapons only
  • Strengthening Defense: defense +1, armor only
  • Prefix talisman: adds one named prefix bonus to a weapon or a piece of armor
Normal talismans come from the merchant in each village or from monster drops. The prefix versions carry names like Storm Power, Inquisitor's or Greater Wave.

How enchanting works

Drag the talisman onto the item and confirm the prompt. The attempt either succeeds or fails.
  • On success the item's efficacy goes up, and for a prefix talisman one prefix option is applied. One option per successful attempt.
  • The higher the enchanting level of the item, the lower the chance of success.
  • Enchanting is allowed only on items of level 40 or above. Prefix talismans ignore that rule.
  • The item's durability must be at least 1.
  • The item must not be equipped.
What a failure costs

A failed normal talisman attempt takes 1 to 3 durability off the item, at random. A failed prefix attempt always takes 5.

The publisher's prefix page adds a warning right next to that rule: if you try a prefix enchant on an item that is already at 5 durability or lower, the item can be destroyed. The general talisman page describes destruction as happening when durability reaches 0, and notes that durability can be restored with a fixing tool. The two descriptions are close but not identical, and the safe reading is the stricter one. Repair the item before you put a prefix talisman on it, because on that path 5 durability is the last step before zero.

Prefix talismans replace, they do not stack

Prefix talismans are used on items that are already enchanted, and a successful attempt gives the item the new prefix's efficacy. In practice an item carries one prefix. You can overwrite a bad roll with a better prefix talisman, but you cannot collect two.

The prefix ladders

The published list runs past a hundred entries, and most of them are rungs on a ladder where each step adds one more point of the same stat.

Strength runs Forced 1, Unlawful 2, Harsh 3, Strong Man's 4, Strongest Man's 5, Melee's 6, Bloody Fight's 7, Slaughterous 8, Barbaric 9, Invincible 10, Red 11, then STR's 15, Sawblade 20, Blood 23 and Storm Power 30. Health and wisdom run single steps from 1 to 10. Intelligence goes Fictional 1 through Absolute 10, then Azure 11, INT's 15, Superior 20, Excellent 23 and Storm Intelligence 30. Agility goes Agile 1 through Gliding 10.

Attack prefixes use min and max pairs instead of one number: Heavy Blow's 0 to 4, The Powerful 2 to 2, Explosive 0 to 6, Fierce 3 to 3, Exterminated 0 to 8, Extreme 0 to 12, Destructive 0 to 14. Magic attack has the same ladder under different names, ending at Absoluteness' 0 to 14.

Defense prefixes start at Tough 8 and run to Impregnable 25, then Judge's 30 with evasion 2 and Inquisitor's 52 with evasion 4. Elemental resistances come in small and royal pairs: Fire[Small] gives 3 and Fire[Royal] gives 8, with the same pair for lightning, ice, paralysis and curse.

The class prefixes bundle several stats. Wandering Knight's gives strength 1, agility 1, health 1 and min to max attack 0 to 1, and the ladder climbs to Expert Knight's with strength 4, agility 3, health 3, min to max attack 2 to 5, 75 HP and 25 MP. Archers and scholars have their own versions of the same progression.

At the top the prefixes stop being a single stat. Legendary gives 5 to strength, agility, intelligence, health and wisdom plus 5 defense, 75 HP and 75 MP. The King, GuhBalHan's gives 6 to each stat, 5 defense, 100 HP and 80 MP. The Greater prefixes, from Greater Bloodshed up to Greater Wave and their magic counterparts, pair a large stat line with an HP pool between 1,300 and 2,500.

The newer upgradeable talismans

Monsters above level 100 drop Upgradeable Talisman of Protection and Intensification fragments. You exchange them with So-yeon in the Village of Narootuh, using a binder bought from the Wandering Honor Merchant, for prefixes that did not exist in the original list: IronWall and Aegis on the defensive side, Crush and Fury on the offensive side. The first tier costs 40 or 60 fragments, and every tier above it costs 8 of the tier below plus more binders, with Talisman Spirit added from the second Intensification tier onward.

Practical rules

1. Repair before you enchant. A prefix failure costs 5 durability, and the publisher's own page warns about attempting the enchant at 5 or lower.
2. Spend prefix talismans on gear you intend to keep. The prefix can be replaced later, the durability cannot be handed back.
3. Check the prefix's listed effect before using the talisman. You get one of its options, so knowing the ladder tells you whether the risk is worth taking.
4. Treat class prefixes as the cheap route to a full stat line and the Greater prefixes as endgame gear.

FAQ

Can an item have two prefixes?
No. A successful prefix enchant sets the item's prefix, and using another prefix talisman replaces it.

Does the level 40 rule apply to prefix talismans?
No. The level 40 minimum applies to normal talismans, and the prefix page says level does not matter for prefixes.

How much durability does a failed enchant cost?
1 to 3 for a normal talisman, always 5 for a prefix talisman.

Can a destroyed item be recovered?
The general page says durability can be restored with a fixing tool, which is how you stay away from the destruction point. It does not describe recovering an item that is already gone.

Where do upgradeable talismans come from?
Monsters above level 100 drop the fragments, and So-yeon in the Village of Narootuh handles the exchange.
