Kal Online Archer Job Tree: Apprentice Archer, Expert Archer, Imperial Commander, God of Bow, and Imperial General

The Archer is the ranged class in Kal Online and the only one that never has to buy ammunition. She is fast, hits hard from a distance, and folds quickly once something closes the gap. The job tree splits at level 50 into two very different playstyles, so picking the wrong branch costs a lot of skill points. Here is what each step gives you.

The job tree at a glance
  • Wandering Archer: the starting class.
  • Apprentice Archer: level 30.
  • Expert Archer or Imperial Commander: level 50. This is the branch point.
  • God of Bow (from Expert Archer) or Imperial General (from Imperial Commander): level 70.
  • Awakened skills: level 91.
Each job change needs its quest chain finished first. Community guides note that four event quests have to be completed before a character can take a later job, so if the trainer will not offer the promotion, check your quest log before anything else.

Wandering Archer and Apprentice Archer

These two tiers give you the core kit. Quick Shot is your basic attack from level 2. Staggering Blow at 18 adds splash damage to nearby enemies. Heart Breaker at 26 stops a target in place for a moment, which is the archer's only real crowd control early on.

The passives matter more than they look. Weapon Expert raises attack power, Sober Judgment raises critical rate, and Seize The Opportunity raises critical damage. Those three come back at every job tier with higher values, so points in them are never wasted.

The Apprentice Archer tier adds Flamy Arrow for splash damage, Blow-up Arrow for a fiery shot that explodes on impact, Poison Arrow for a movement speed slow, and Chance Capture, which raises your chance to land Fatal Blow.

The level 50 split

Expert Archer stays on raw ranged damage and reach. Focus Shot at 50 charges up for a stronger hit, and the longer you hold it the more damage it does. Mysterious Arrow at 57 hits a target and everything near it. Advanced Blow-up Arrow upgrades your fire arrow. Magic Resistance at 52 raises fire, ice, lightning, and dark resistance, which is worth more than it sounds in PvP. Emergency Escape at 59 is a group sprint that pulls you and nearby party members out of trouble. Range Extension is the passive that lets you shoot past your bow's listed effective distance.

Imperial Commander goes the debuff route instead. The whole tier is built on curses: Curse of Critical Hit, Curse of Strength, Curse of Agility, Curse of Intelligence, and Curse of Wisdom, acquired between level 54 and 61, each on a 300 second cooldown, each lowering one of the target's stats. Loss of Confidence drops their accuracy. Sight Blockade at 65 blinds a target outright. Arrow of Ruin at 68 strips every buff off a target and damages the area around them. Life Absorption at 50 heals you based on your attack power, and Poison Cloud at 64 lays down an area of poison that slows anything standing in it.

The short version: Expert Archer kills things faster. Imperial Commander makes other players worse and removes their buffs. Imperial Commander is the PvP pick and the group play pick, because a blinded enemy with no buffs is a dead enemy.

Level 70: God of Bow and Imperial General

God of Bow is the Expert Archer promotion. Arrow Rain at 70 covers an area in arrows for ten seconds, and moving cancels the cast, so it is a hold-your-ground skill. Combative Spirit at 77 fires through everything between you and the target. Arrow of Silence at 80 blocks an enemy's magic for a while, though it does not work on monsters. At 91 you get One Hit Strike and Arrows of the Master, both single target damage with splash. Arrow of Doom at 105 lays down repeated area attacks that reduce enemy accuracy.

Imperial General is the Imperial Commander promotion. Soul Explosion at 70 damages a target and its neighbours, Virulent Arrow at 77 is a stronger version of the same idea, and Multiple Shots at 75 fires a fan of arrows at everything in range. The utility skills are where this branch gets interesting. Search at 104 reveals hidden enemies around you, trading movement speed for extra attack power. Left Cloud Shot and Right Flame Shot at 91 both hit an area, and Right Flame Shot also cuts the skill range of enemy characters. Powerful Arrow Baptism at 105 blocks item and auto-potion use for a set duration, which is brutal against anyone surviving on potion spam.

Stats and stat limits

Archers lean on agility. It raises dodge, accuracy, and base attack at the same time, which is why it is the default dump stat. Strength adds base damage and one point of accuracy per three points invested. Health raises HP and non-elemental resistance, and you want some of it or the 50 to 70 range will be miserable. Wisdom raises MP and curse resistance, and past level 50 the new skills cost enough mana that running zero wisdom starts to hurt.

One mechanic that catches new players: attribute points get more expensive as a stat climbs. Kal applies stat borders, so early points cost one each and later ones cost more. For an archer, strength, health, intelligence, and wisdom step up at 50, 70, 90 and onward in twenty point increments. Agility runs on its own track, stepping at 60, 90, 120 and onward in thirty point increments. That is why a build that commits to agility early ends up with more total stats than one that spreads points evenly.
