Kal Online castle siege: the complete guide

Castle Siege is Kal Online's flagship large-scale PvP mode, pitting entire guild alliances against each other for control of Geum-Oh Castle. If your guild wants a shot at ruling the realm, here is everything you need to know.

How guilds participate

Only guilds level 4 or higher can declare siege. The guild leader registers the guild or alliance for either attack or defense during the declaration period by speaking with the Guard NPC in the occupied area. Alliances can include up to 15 guilds, and the entire alliance fights as a single unit. Friendly guilds show blue names, while hostile guilds appear in red. Only level 70 characters and above can take part in the actual siege.

The weekly schedule

Castle Siege runs on a fixed weekly cycle with three distinct phases:
  • Declaration period: Friday 1:00 AM to Saturday 1:00 AM. Guild leaders register for attack or defense.
  • Preparation period: Saturday 1:00 AM to Sunday 1:00 AM. Registered guilds organize and move to camps.
  • Siege warfare: Sunday 1:00 AM to 2:00 AM. The battle begins. Entry closes at 1:00 AM sharp.
Siege mechanics: flags and victory

The castle contains four capture points: one large flag worth 50 points and three small flags worth 30 points each. To win, a side must capture all four flags and hold them for five full minutes. If the siege timer expires, the side with the higher flag score wins. Ties go to the defense.

When multiple alliances compete on the same side, the castle lord is decided by a three-step tiebreaker: first by total flag score, then by kill points, and finally by the average level of participating alliance members.

During the siege, participants earn Castle Siege Buffs based on their kill-to-death ratio. Higher ratios grant stronger PvP attack and defense bonuses, rewarding skilled fighters with tangible combat advantages.

Rewards and honor points

Every participant earns honor points based on their contribution. The winning guild receives 7,000 honor points, alliance partners get 3,000, and even the losing side walks away with 300. Activity points, earned through kills, flag captures, and support actions, unlock additional personal rewards. Honor points can be spent on skill books, ancient accessories, shields, and transportation upgrades at the honor merchant.

What the winning guild gets

The victorious guild becomes the castle lord and gains several powerful benefits:
  • Tax control: the castle lord sets the territory tax rate at 95%, 100%, or 110% through the Manager of Occupied Area NPC. Consecutive successful defenses increase tax income up to double, stacking up to ten times.
  • Territory icon: a castle icon displays next to the guild name in the ranking list, marking your guild as the ruling power.
  • Commercial benefits: the holding guild enjoys economic advantages across the occupied area, including a cut of market taxes.
  • Official recognition: the winning guild is announced on the official Kal Online site as the castle lord.
The tax resets whenever a new guild takes the castle, so holding power requires constant vigilance. Every siege puts the throne back in play, and no guild stays ruler forever.
