Kal Online Skill Guide: Which Skills to Upgrade First

Skill points are limited in Kal Online, and how you spend them early shapes your character for the rest of the game. Each class has a long list of skills, but not all of them are worth maxing right away. This guide covers which skills to prioritize for each class and which ones you can safely skip.

General Rules

Before diving into specific classes, a few principles apply across the board:
  • Max your weapon mastery skill first. It directly increases your damage output.
  • Get your core attack skill to a usable level before spreading points thin.
  • Passive buffs that increase stats (OTP, evasion, HP) are almost always worth maxing.
  • Skills with long cooldowns or situational use can wait until later job levels.
  • Check with your class master NPC periodically. Many skills have level or prerequisite requirements and will not appear until you meet them.
Knight

The Knight is the frontline melee class. Your early priority is Weapon Mastery, which should be maxed as soon as possible. It gives you on-target points and increases minimum and maximum damage.

After Weapon Mastery, focus on:
  • Critical Hit: Adds a chance for extra damage. Max this early.
  • Defense: Available at level 30. A must-have for Knights. Max it.
  • Transcendental Blow: Your first real attack skill at level 30. Get it to stage 5.
  • Increasing Concentration: Only 1 stage, gives +3 OTP. Take it when available.
At job levels, the Commander path (tank/support) and God of Sword path (offense) diverge sharply. Decide which one you want before committing skill points.

Archer

Archers are ranged physical damage dealers. Your priority is Bow Mastery, which should be maxed first. After that:
  • Concentration: Increases on-target points. Max it.
  • Fatal Blow: Increases critical damage. Very important for Archers.
  • Perfect Evasion: Increases your evasion stat. Worth maxing for survivability.
  • Arrow of Silence: Your main attack skill. Keep it at a usable level.
The Archer tree splits into a support path (Imperial Commander) and a damage path (God of Bow). The support path reduces enemy damage and enervates targets, while the damage path focuses on raw arrow damage and AoE volleys.

Magician

Mages have the most flexible job tree in the game. Your priority depends on your chosen path:
  • Fire Magic, Ice Magic, or Lightning Magic: Max your chosen element.
  • Heal: Essential for support builds. Max it.
  • Cure: Removes debuffs. Very useful in both PvE and PvP.
  • Meditation: Increases MP recovery. Worth a few points.
The support path (Literary Man into Chairperson of Joong-Bang) brings revive, cure, and powerful ally buffs. The AoE path (Hermit) focuses on area damage spells. The single-target path (Ascetic) balances damage with self-defense.

Thief

Thieves are stealth-based damage dealers. Your priority:
  • Hiding: Your core stealth skill. Max it.
  • Increase Target Rate: Increases accuracy. Max it.
  • Increase Critical Rate and Critical Damage: Both are essential for burst damage.
  • Weak Point Detection: Increases damage against enemies. Worth maxing.
  • Stun and Confusion: Crowd control skills. Get them to a usable level.
The Thief tree splits into Hitman (assassination), Dark Shadow (stealth combat), and Invisible (fast movement and counterattacks). Each path plays differently, so pick based on your preferred style.

Shaman

Shamans are divine casters with summons. Your priority:
  • Ghost Blade: Your basic attack skill. Max it.
  • Soul Shield: Defensive skill. Worth maxing.
  • Pain of Soul and Deep Curse: Your main damage and debuff skills. Keep them at usable levels.
  • Energy Recovery: Increases MP recovery. Important for casters.
The Shaman tree splits into Rising Shaman of God (PvE damage and summons) and Spirit Shaman of God (PvP buffs and AoE). The summons from Hereditary Shaman can tank for you, making the PvE path more forgiving for solo play.
