The Yin-Yang Mirror system is Kal Online's trigram accessory set. You wear a Yin-Yang Mirror, eight Trigrams, and a Taegeuk, and the mirror turns their combined effects on. The catch is the grade order: the mirror must be the highest grade, then the Taegeuk, then the trigrams. Get that backwards and nothing activates.
The three pieces
GameAgit's official guide describes the system as abilities you unlock with Eight Trigrams and a Taegeuk, activated by the Yin-Yang Mirror. The mirror is the medium that connects the eight trigrams and one Taegeuk and switches their effects on. Each of the eight trigrams grants a specific stat, and the set effect only applies to your character while the mirror is equipped.
The slots break down like this: the Yin-Yang Mirror is required and can only be worn once all eight trigrams are on; the eight Trigrams each have their own fixed slot; the Taegeuk can only be worn once all eight Trigrams are equipped; and the Trigram Absorption button sits alongside them.
Grade order matters
The system only works when the grades line up in this order: Yin-Yang Mirror grade is greater than or equal to Taegeuk grade, which is greater than or equal to Trigram grade. Wearing them in reverse does not work. GameAgit's example: a Novice mirror with a Novice Taegeuk and an Apprentice trigram activates fine, but an Apprentice mirror with a Novice Taegeuk and a Novice trigram does not.
Grades run Apprentice, Novice, Senior, and Master for the trigrams and Taegeuk. The mirror adds a Master Prime tier above those.
What each trigram does
The eight trigrams map to stats. GameAgit lists them clockwise from the top left: Geon is HP, Tae is MP, I is attack and magic attack, Jin is Strength, Son is Dexterity, Gam is Intelligence, Gan is Wisdom, and Gon is Health.
Each trigram comes in four grades with a level requirement and a source: Apprentice at level 30, Novice at 50, Senior at 75, and Master at 85, all dropped by monsters.
Enchanting and the rules that catch people out
You can enchant a trigram up to +15. A failed enchant can downgrade it. You cannot use a Polishing Stone or Hermit's Water on a trigram, and you can only enchant it using a clean trigram of the same part as material. You can only wear a trigram enchanted to +1 or higher, and you cannot wear a trigram of a higher grade than your mirror or Taegeuk. Trigrams can be moved, exchanged, or sold.
The set effect percentages
The mirror raises the trigram set effect based on how evenly enchanted your eight trigrams are. The set effect is decided by the lowest enchanted trigram in the set, and each enchant step increases it. GameAgit's table for the Apprentice grade runs from 10 percent at set 1 up to 254 percent at set 15, while the Novice, Senior, and Master grades climb to 357, 438, and 438 percent at set 15.
Taegeuk and absorption
The Taegeuk gathers the abilities of the eight trigrams, and it is account bound and cannot be traded. It comes in Apprentice, Novice, Senior, and Master. One basic effect is rolled randomly when the Taegeuk is first made: Apprentice gives 4 defense, 1 evasion, 1 OTP; Novice gives 10, 2, 2; Senior gives 25, 4, 4; Master gives 40, 7, 7.
Trigram Absorption adds more. It requires all eight trigrams to be the same grade, all enchanted to +5 or higher, all worn, and the Taegeuk to be the same grade or higher and taken off. Absorption activates when you wear trigrams enchanted past +5, and wearing a full +10 set increases the absorption effect further.
Crafting a Taegeuk
Taegeuks are crafted at the Artisan Doggebi NPC in Geum-Oh Mine. The material costs scale hard with grade: Apprentice needs 3 Bronze, 3 Silica stone, 1 Jasper, and 5,000 Zamogeon; Novice needs 36 Bronze, 36 Silica stone, 9 Jasper, 9 Silver, and 1,000,000 Zamogeon; Senior needs 144 Bronze, 144 Silica stone, 24 Jasper, 24 Silver, 4 Gold, and 14,000,000 Zamogeon; Master needs 60 Yellow brass, 30 Red copper, 20 Chalcedony, 20 Platinum, 20 Gold, and 42,000,000 Zamogeon.
