Kal Online Explosive Blow: the Stone of Revision, the polishing stone, and the success odds
Quick summary

Explosive Blow is a weapon enchant that adds a chance of extra damage on a hit, raised grade by grade at the BlackSmith NPC. Every grade raise can fail, and a failure can destroy the weapon, so the system is built around two safety nets. The polishing stone stops durability loss during a normal enchant, and the Stone of Revision, which you collect from destroying high grade gear, is what you spend to push the success percentage up to 100 percent.

What Explosive Blow does

The Explosive Blow system gives a weapon a chance to deal more damage during a fight by improving its power. When the effect triggers in battle it deals damage to the enemy as a Non Elemental extra hit. The activation probability and the damage both come from the grade you have raised.

The grade is shown in the tooltip. The level of Explosive Blow appears in parentheses at the end of the weapon name, in the style of +13 Invincible HwanDoo SaeHyung Big Sword (12). The activation probability, the damage, and the next success probability are printed at the bottom of the weapon tooltip, and the success probability updates every time you correct it with a Stone of Revision.

Where the Stone of Revision comes from
  • Talk to the BlackSmith NPC and use the destroy item option on a weapon above grade 40, an armor, or an accessory. You get a Stone of Revision back.
  • You also get a Stone of Revision when a weapon is destroyed while you are enchanting an attack or magic talisman.
  • The higher the grade of the gear you destroy, the more stones of revision you get.
  • The higher the grade of gear you want to raise, the more stones of revision you need.
Raising the grade

You raise Explosive Blow by choosing Applying Explosive Blow in the BlackSmith NPC conversation. The interface shows the fee, the chance of success, the chance of failure, and the chance of destruction once you register the weapon.

A raise can add one grade, or fail, or destroy the weapon. Using stones of revision is what pushes the chance of success up to 100 percent. The guide's own table lists the polishing stone requirement and the Zamogeon fee for each grade:
  • Grade 1: 1 stone, 1,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 2: 2 stones, 3,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 3: 3 stones, 6,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 4: 4 stones, 6,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 5: 5 stones, 7,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 6: 7 stones, 9,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 7: 10 stones, 10,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 8: 13 stones, 12,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 9: 21 stones, 13,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 10: 29 stones, 15,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 11: 45 stones, 16,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 12: 92 stones, 18,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 13: 188 stones, 19,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 14: 192 stones, 21,000 Zamogeon
  • Grade 15: 196 stones, 22,500 Zamogeon
  • Grade 16: 198 stones, 24,000 Zamogeon
The Zamogeon fee is nearly flat from grade 11 onward, but the stone count keeps climbing, and that is where the real cost sits.

The grade cap

Explosive Blow grade cannot go higher than the grade of the weapon itself. A +10 weapon can be raised to grade 10 of Explosive Blow, not to grade 16. The table above reaches 16 because higher grade weapons exist, so read your own weapon grade as the ceiling.

The polishing stone

The polishing stone is a cash item bought in the Kal shop for 5 EA or 50 Jewels. When you enchant a weapon or armor with a polishing stone checked, it prevents durability from decreasing or the item breaking. The effect disappears once the enchant is done, and the stone is destroyed whether the enchant succeeds or fails. If you run out of stones mid session, the use of polishing stones stops automatically.

Frequently asked questions
  • Does Explosive Blow work on armor? No. The guide describes it as a weapon enchant that improves weapon power, and the tooltip example it gives is a weapon name.
  • What happens if a raise destroys the weapon? The weapon is gone. That is why you correct the success percentage with stones of revision before you risk a high grade raise.
  • Can I lower the Explosive Blow grade? The guide only describes raising the grade by one at a time, so there is no lowering path in this system.
  • Do I need a talisman to use Explosive Blow? No. You raise Explosive Blow directly in the BlackSmith NPC conversation. Talismans are a separate enchant, and destroying gear during a talisman enchant is one of the ways to get stones of revision.
  • Is the 100 percent success rate free? No. It costs the stones of revision listed above, and the higher the grade, the more stones it takes.
  • Where do I see the next success probability? At the bottom of the weapon tooltip, updated each time you correct it with a Stone of Revision.
