Kal Online Teacher and Student system: level gates, Zamogeon rewards, and the swap rule that costs the armour set

The Teacher and Student system is the one piece of Kal Online that pays both sides of a relationship, so it is worth knowing the rules before you use the Agent NPC. This post covers the level gates, what each side earns, and the single rule that catches most players out.

Quick summary
  • Any character at level 16 or above can be a teacher. Any character at level 15 or below can be a student.
  • A student receives a grade 8 armour set, 20,000 Zamogeon at level 16 and 50,000 Zamogeon at level 30.
  • A teacher earns a tuition share of roughly 5 to 20 geon from students, but only while online.
  • Only one relationship is allowed per account. Changing teacher costs you the armour set permanently.
Who can take part

The level gates are strict in both directions. A character at level 16 or above qualifies as a teacher. A character at level 15 or below qualifies as a student. Because the gates sit either side of level 16, a student who crosses that line stops being a student and becomes eligible to take students of their own, which is how the chain keeps going.

Players at level 15 and below start the process at the Agent NPC in Narootuh. Open the relationship window, click Make A Relationship and type the teacher's name. The teacher has to accept before the link is made, so send a message first. Anyone can swap teacher later, but the grade 8 armour set is only granted once.

What the student gets
  • A full five piece armour set at grade 8, matched to the student's class, granted when the relationship is formed.
  • 20,000 Zamogeon when the student reaches level 16.
  • 50,000 Zamogeon when the student reaches level 30.
The grade 8 set is the real prize for a new character. It is better gear than a fresh level 1 account would otherwise hold, and it arrives without any cost or quest.

What the teacher gets

A teacher earns tuition based on the student's level, roughly 5 to 20 geon per unit. The important detail is that the tuition comes from the system rather than from the student's wallet, so a student never pays anything out of pocket for having a teacher.

Two conditions apply:
  • The teacher must be online to receive tuition. Accumulated tuition is paid into storage automatically once it reaches 100 geon, so a teacher who logs out for a week does not lose it, they just stop earning while offline.
  • The teacher receives the same 20,000 and 50,000 Zamogeon milestone payments that the student receives, at levels 16 and 30.
A teacher can hold 20 students in total, and a single teacher account cannot receive more than 100 million from the system over its lifetime.

The limits and the rule to watch

Only one T&S relationship is allowed per account, and no player can hold more than two relationships in total. That means you can be a student to one teacher and a teacher to your own students at the same time, but you cannot stack two teachers.

The one that costs people the armour set is the swap rule. A student may change teacher at any time, but the grade 8 armour set is never granted a second time. If you leave a teacher and join a new one, you keep whatever gear you already own and you simply do not get a replacement set.

The relationship list and student levels are visible through the /relation command, and chat and notice messaging between teacher and student is built in. A teacher can see the connection status of every student, which is the useful part when you are running a group of new players.
