Kal Online classes and the Perfect Party bonus: the six job classes, what each one does, and how to earn 20% extra EXP

Quick summary
Kal Online splits its characters across six base classes. Each one has its own job tree, and the game pays you for putting different classes together in one party. This is a tour of what each class is built to do, the jobs they advance into, and how the party bonus works.

The six classes
GameAgit, the game's publisher, publishes a class page and a job tree for each:
  • Knight. Melee, sword and shield. The tree runs Wandering Knight, Apprentice Knight, Commander, Vagabond Swordman, General, and God of Sword. The later jobs split along one axis: Commander and General lean on defence and on helping allies, Vagabond Swordman and God of Sword lean on offence.
  • Archer. Ranged damage built around critical hits. The lore page describes the troop as made up of women fighting with the Chung-Song troop. Jobs: Wandering Archer, Apprentice Archer, Imperial Commander, Expert Archer, Imperial General, God of Bow.
  • Magician. Magic damage plus the support skills. The lore page says all male Magicians were killed in battle and only females survived. Jobs: Scholar, Literary Man, Hermit, Chairperson of Joong-Bang, Ascetic, Military Adviser. Hermit specialises in area damage, Chairperson of Joong-Bang assists allies and revives, Military Adviser buffs the whole party.
  • Thief. Hiding and assassination. Wandering Thief starts with Hiding, the class's basic combat skill. Jobs: Wandering Thief, Thief Guild member, Hitman, I, Swordsman, Dark Shadow, Unearthly Ghost.
  • Shaman. Summons ghosts and leans on god power. Jobs: Unfamiliar Shaman, Shaman, Hereditary Shaman, Exclusive Shaman, Rising Shaman of God, Spirit Shaman of God. Hereditary Shaman summons a ghost that fights beside you, Exclusive Shaman raises your abilities and your party's, and the final jobs carry area damage spells for PvE and buff spells for PvP.
  • Sword Trickster. Sword work mixed with simple magic. The class page describes an irregular attack that swaps the position of the enemy and the caster. The job page currently lists Sword Trickster and Mind Sword.
The Perfect Party bonus
The Party Bonus page explains how the game groups classes for rewards:
  • The job classes are divided into eleven classes.
  • Perfect Party is a full party of eight members, all of different classes from one another.
  • Every member has to be at second job or higher, so you cannot form one with brand new characters.
  • The Perfect Party buff applies automatically and grants 20% additional experience from monster hunts.
  • It stacks with the Stone of EXP buff.
  • The buff ends when the party is dismissed.
That 20% is the reason class diversity is worth planning. Eight different classes out-earn eight of the same class on identical farming, and it costs you no extra time.

Choosing a class
Knight and Archer are the least dependent on a group if you plan to solo. Shaman and Magician bring the buffs and revives that parties look for, which makes them easy to place. Sword Trickster sits in between: it can hold a fight alone and still counts toward the party bonus.
