Kal Online has six starting classes: Knight, Archer, Magician, Thief, Shaman, and Sword Trickster. Each class can advance through multiple job tiers, and the job change system is how you unlock stronger skills and new abilities. This guide covers when job changes happen, what each tier gives you, and how the quest chain works.
Job Tiers at a Glance
- Level 30 (1st job change): Archers become Apprentice Archers, Knights become Apprentice Knights, Mages become Scholar Magicians. Other classes have their own promotions. This is the first major power spike.
- Level 50 (2nd job change): Archers choose between Expert Archer and Imperial Commander. Knights choose between Vagabond Swordman and Commander. Mages choose between Hermit and Chairperson of Joong-Bang. These are permanent choices that define your role.
- Level 70 (3rd job change): Access the most advanced jobs. Requires completing a lengthy event quest chain that involves collecting elements, fighting through dungeons, and defeating specific bosses.
Each job change grants access to new skills and stronger versions of existing ones. Your skill points become more impactful. The job you choose also determines your stat focus and combat role. A Vagabond Swordman plays differently from a Commander, even though both come from the Knight line.
The 1st Job Change Quest (Level 30)
The first job change quest is a chain of tasks. The general flow:
- Talk to Sae Ryu in Naratuh. He asks you to bring 30 Escort Soldier Heads, dropped by Escort Demons.
- Speak with General In Pill at Cargo Station. He wants 1 Big Handed Inhabitant Head.
- Return to Sae Ryu. He sends you to find In Pill's Scabbard, stolen by Demon Carcass Scavengers near Cargo Station.
- Deliver the scabbard to General In Pill.
- Speak with HyungJoo-SeungGong in Geum Oh Mine. He asks for 40 Big Handed Warrior Heads.
- Once you reach level 30 and have completed the tasks, teleport to Geum Oh Mine and speak with Lord Jin Pyung near the mines. He asks for 1 Demon Commander Head.
- Deliver the head and choose your new job.
The 2nd Job Change (Level 40 to 50)
The second job change is split into four parts and requires levels 40, 44, 46, and 50. The quest involves hunting Devil Troops, collecting spirits from Doggebis, and defeating the Chief of the Angry Doggebi Troop. At level 50, return to Jae Ga at the Temporary Fort of Geum-Ohee Castle to select your advanced job.
The 3rd Job Change (Level 70)
The third job change is the most demanding. It involves collecting ten elements of each type (fire, water, wood, iron, ground) from the Forrest of Elements. You convert imperfect elements at the Element Collection Official in the City of Priest, though the conversion is not guaranteed to succeed. You then carry the converted elements to altars throughout the Forrest of Elements and complete additional tasks involving dungeon drops and boss kills.
Quest Categories
Kal Online divides quests into three types:
- Tasks are the shortest and easiest. They usually involve killing a set number of enemies or collecting items. Rewards include money, items, skill points, and experience.
- Events are harder and longer. Four event quests must be completed in order to unlock the advanced jobs. These are the quests that gate job progression.
- Missions are the hardest and designed for groups. They offer the best rewards but require coordination.
Start the quest chain before you hit the level requirement so you can complete tasks as you go. Group up for the hunting portions if you can. Stock up on potions and buffs before attempting the boss fights. The 3rd job change quest chain in particular is a marathon, not a sprint.
