Graphics checks
- Open the KAL Online updater's game settings.
- Adjust the resolution and graphics options, then test the game again.
- Check the graphics adapter and update its driver.
The KAL Online FAQ states that the game was developed using DirectX 9.0b. A newer DirectX version displayed by Windows does not necessarily mean that every legacy component required by an older game is present.
Microsoft's DirectX guidance says some applications and games require DirectX 9 even when a newer DirectX version is installed. Microsoft directs affected users to the DirectX End-User Runtime and states that the package does not change the installed versions of DirectX, Direct3D, DirectInput, DirectSound, DirectPlay, DirectShow, or DirectMusic.
Collect diagnostic information
The KAL Online FAQ instructs users to run dxdiag. It says the System tab displays the operating system, processor, memory, and DirectX version, while the Display section identifies the graphics card and approximate video memory.
The FAQ also says that exception.txt is created in the KAL Online installation folder when a problem is caused by a program bug. Check for that file when collecting information for troubleshooting.
